Preregistration: 2026 WNC Regional Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony
Preregister—let us know you're coming!
The Asheville Art Museum, with support from the American Institute of Architects Western North Carolina, is proud to be a regional affiliate partner hosting the Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art Awards each year. Students in grades 7–12 from all across Western North Carolina are invited to submit work for this special juried competition. The Museum works with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers to facilitate regional judging of student artwork and to recognize our community’s burgeoning artistic talent.
Each year, award winners are featured in an exhibition and are honored at a ceremony. Regional Gold Key recipients’ work is sent to the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition hosted by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
For more information on the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, visit artandwriting.org; email Asheville Art Museum; or call 828.253.3227 x124.
All regional award recipients will be honored at our closing reception on March 22, 2026.
Special thanks to our 2026 Regional jurors, Erin Tapley, artist and Program Coordinator of Art Education at Western Carolina University, Perry Obee, Tamarind Master Printer and founder of Obee Editions, a collaborative printmaking studio, and Pat Philips, lifelong educator and painter in Asheville’s River Arts District.
