Biltmore House: The Interiors and Collections of George W. Vanderbilt | A Talk and Book Signing

$10.00

Join Darren Poupore, director of curatorial affairs and archives at Biltmore for a talk and book signing based on his new publication, Biltmore House: The Interiors and Collections of George W. Vanderbilt.

In addition to creating one of the largest self-sustaining country estates in the US, George W. Vanderbilt assembled a notable collection of art and architecture that he displayed in over 200 specially designed rooms at Biltmore House. Poupore brings us inside “America’s Largest Home” to tell the story of Biltmore’s interiors and their relation to tastes in collecting and decorating from the Gilded Age period to today. Offering a glimpse of the North Carolina château as it was designed during the 1890s, Poupore explores Vanderbilt’s relationships with leading firms and dealers from Richard Morris Hunt in New York to Durand-Ruel in Paris.

Darren Poupore is the director of curatorial affairs and archives at Biltmore. In his current role, he oversees a team of six curators and archivists responsible for researching, interpreting, and preserving the historic collections, interiors, and history of Biltmore House and Biltmore Estate. His book, Biltmore House: The Interiors and Collections of George W. Vanderbilt, coauthored by Laura C. Jenkins with photography by William Abranowicz, was published by Rizzoli Electa in February 2026.
