ABOUT THE MUSICIAN 

Meschiya Lake is a dynamic addition to Asheville’s music scene, bringing her powerful vocals, captivating stage presence, and genre-spanning sound to audiences across Western North Carolina. After years of building an acclaimed career in New Orleans, Lake has made Asheville home, blending jazz, blues, Americana, and country influences into performances that are both timeless and fresh. Whether performing intimate originals or beloved classics, Meschiya’s heartfelt storytelling and infectious energy continue to win over local music lovers throughout the region. 

From the stages of Lincoln Center in NYC, to Brazil, Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, Italy, Russia, the U.K., and Ireland, Meschiya Lake has shown people to express love of life through music and dance.  This passion, seemingly tireless energy, and expert skill have garnered much praise, from NPR’s top ten albums of 2010 to First Lady of Jazz 2013, at the Sun Valley Jazz Festival. But most importantly, back at home in New Orleans, Lake was recognized as Female Performer of the Year, three years running, at the Big Easy Awards, was named Best Female Singer in Offbeat Magazine’s Best of the Beat poll in 2013 and 2014.
