Penland Overlook

Penland Overlook a 43 page exhibition catalog brings together more than 120 objects created by 48 participants of the residency program from 1963-1990.  All of the media concentrations taught at the school are covered in the exhibition and objects are grouped together historically to trace the program's evolution and growth.  Reading through the listing of participating arists is liek reading a Who's Who of the contemporary American crafts movement.  The objects presented herein are the products of each artist's current artistic outlook and as such may or may not relate to the work produced when these people were in residency.  Some artist have continued on in their pursuits of media and ideas developed during their residencies, some have moved into other areas entirely.
